Konferencja Generalna

Cześć family!

I don't have much to say this week other than GENERAL CONFERENCE! It was SO good, and hopefully you were all able to watch all four sessions. So far I've gotten 3 in, but planning on rewatching tchem all in a language I understand a little better.

I am legal here in Poland! Yay! I had an urząd appointment (government appt.) on Tuesday and finally got my passport stamped. We only had to wait there for about an hour and a half and go slightly crazy. Technically I had been legal all along because you can be in Poland for 90 days without registering, but my time was running out. But also we have to carry our passports with us everywhere, which I'm not a huge fan of.

On Thursday, we had Zone Conference, which was wonderful. We did speed dating contacting, which was super helpful because we practiced a lot of different ways of contacting. And zone conference is always very uplifting.

On Saturday, while walking from our tram to the chapel at the Rynek (city center), we saw a homeless man and decided to talk to him, thinking we could maybe brighten his day. Sister Harmon had barely gotten out a "Dzień dobry" when he started croaking "Daj mi spokój! Daj mi spokój!" meaning "Give me peace!". He started shaking his cane at us and muttering about people always trying to round him up for church as he hobbled away. We were cracking up pretty hard about it after it happened.

Sunday was a little bit crazy, but it ended up being good. Sister Harmon and I woke up early (with permission) to take a train to Zabrze to pick up a member who has trouble getting to church.  We barely made our train (after sprinting for it, of course ;). And then we took a bus back with our member. She likes to talk a lot and is difficult to understand, but I took a nap on the ride home.  We had some less active members there to watch General Conference, too, which was wonderful.

Even though I didn't understand everything President Nelson said in his talk, I felt his love for us and his spiritual power--power given to him by God. He stressed how important it is for us to make and keep covenants in the temple so that we can be with our families forever. That's something I want and something we all want--a sense of belonging in our families. If you do not have a loving family situation right now, don't give up hope. President Nelson counseled us to hold on to the covenants we have made, because with these covenants come promises from God--including the promise that we can be in a loving family forever. And God keeps His promises.

Love you all!
