I'm Officially No Longer A Teenager

Hey everybody!!! Sorry I haven't really written good emails the last few weeks.

BUUUUUT

This weeks has been pretty awesome. First of all, thank you everyone for the birthday wishes! I'm officially no longer a teenager.

The Womacks took us out to dinner on the Rynek and I got some really good ribs.

Yesterday we were supposed to take a train to Katowice but I misread the train ticket and we showed up about 4 hours late. The office elders weren't too happy about that. But while we were waiting for our train, we were using our time well! We went on tram rides and talked to people on the trams because the weather wasn't too favorable for street contacting. But while we were later walking to a tram stop, we saw a lady with a bunch 9f groceries and offered to help her, which she accepted! I love it when people let us serve them. And so while we walked, we talked. And even though she told us she wasn't interested in religion, as she talked and we got to know each other, we had some really good moments where we got to just explain what we believe and why we are so happy to be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I told her that thanks to the teachings of Jesus Christ, my family is happy, and Sis Jensen got to talk about her family as well. Super cold experience. She invited us into her home and we kept talking, and we are going to talk more!

Zone Conference In Wrocław

Hello everybody! This is going to be a quick one.

This week we had Zone Conference in Wrocław and talked about goal setting. President Chandler has set some mission goals for us. They are really motivating and I've already found myself pushing myself harder because of them. Sister Jensen helps with that too. Man she is a darn good influence on me. She is really good at helping me think through the reasons for doing all the things we decide to do, and because of that I've become better focused and I think we are working smarter and better together.

We visited our family this week again and taught them "Follow the Prophet." They really enjoyed marching around to the beat. They are so adorable.

A Fabulous Week

Cześć wszystkich! We have had a fabulous week. One of the things I am so excited for this transfer is all the music we are going to be doing! Sis Jensen, my companion, is a phenomenal singer, and we're both learning the guitar because it works well to teach others songs. I almost have I Am a Child of God down. And we got to do a musical number in church yesterday! But I'm getting ahead of myself.....

My new companion is awesome. Her name is Sis Jensen, and she's from Mississippi and has 9 siblings. Her Polish is already pretty good. She's the first child to serve a mission in her family. And she likes to cook too! Which is awesome because I like to cook too but don't want to a lot of the time. But we are going to make at least one Polish dish every week so we will be Polish chefs by the end of this transfer. We already made some good cabbage soup and some really good tomato soup (tomato soup recipe credits of Bożena and our immersion blender the old senior couple left behind).

We were able to meet with a lot of our people this week. It has been so fun to be so busy and it is so fun to have this passion for the way I want to do missionary work right now.

Which is why it was totally perfect that Sis Jensen loves music because that is my passion for how to do missionary work now. And I prayed for a companion who does music!!! Yay!!

We took a one-hour train on Friday to Mokrz (a teeny little village) to teach a family Primary songs. You know how you sometimes hear stories about being on public transportation and there isn't room to breathe? And everyone is packed in like sardines? And everyone has to suck in their breath and lose weight whenever someone needs to get out? It was so funny 'cause it's the kind of thing that you hear about in stories but then it actually happened. Train back was fine though.

And the lesson with our family was SO MUCH FUN!!

And, what's even better, the mom took the train with her 2 kids early Sunday morning to come to church!!!! She is phenomenal, and her kids are just drinking up the Gospel. I just love her family.

We have a couple YSAs we are teaching right now who are also so awesome. They've really got open, humble hearts and are willing to act on the things they understand to be important. And they understand that knowing the purpose of life is important, so they've got their priorities in a good state.

Sometimes the strangest things happen, and I don't quite know how to interpret them. For example, yesterday we were contacting in a park, and we stopped to talk to these 2 young guys on a bench. I asked them how we could strengthen relationships with our family members. One of them claimed he "couldn't speak Polish" and then made the other guy answer. I don't even remember what the second guy said in answer to the question, but I could sense that something was off about this conversation. But I asked a follow-up question to the second guy. His eyes darted back and forth, and then suddenly, he jumped up and sprinted away, quickly becoming a black speck in the distance.

Sis Jensen and I kind of stood there surprised for a minute, and then I asked guy no. 1 if guy no. 2 was okay. Turns out guy no. 1 does speak Polish, 'cause he explained that guy no. 2 is extremely afraid of women and does that often. So we said bye to guy no. 1. He winked at us as we left.

We're still making our way through General Conference little by little. I really liked Sis Aburto's talk in the Women's Session and also President Oak's (also in the Women's Session). They are going to help us help our people. It's great when God speaks to us through His prophets!

Love,
Siostra Eberting
