Dzień dobry, everyone! This week was wonderful! The weather was a little strange, though. The sun blazed, but the clouds also wrung themselves out. The sandals went on, but so did the winter boots. I got sunburned this week (sorry Dad) and I bought a raincoat.
BUT, our indecisive weather is not the reason we had a wonderful week. We had a wonderful week because we trusted the Lord's promises to us and we worked hard. On Thursday, Sis Harmon and I decided to walk to the chapel and talk to people on the way. And the sun was out, and we both were just full of Energy. And we had good conversations on our way to the chapel. So much so, that we ran out of time and had to take a tram the rest of the way. :)
One of the things I just love about Katowice is how many people we know here. We will just be walking along the streets and we'll see a few people we know and stop and talk to tchem for a few minutes. It's wonderful to feel like we are becoming part of the community here.
Thursday afternoon, we went to our friend Elżbieta's school (she teaches English there) for some sort of open day where kids trying to decide which high school to attend could come and see. So basically we were the bait "Come to this school! We have native English speakers to help!!!" But we are happy to be bait for Elżbieta any day, because she is so sweet. She helps us find great service opportunities, and we always feel so happy when we are around her.
After that, we went to the dworzec to pick Sister Baldwin up (she had some legal work to do here). So we got to be a trio for a day and a half! After dropping her suitcase off at the chapel we did a finding activity for an hour. We wrote a verse from Mormon 9 on a whiteboard about how God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and asked people what they thought about it. Pretty much everyone agreed with it, and then we transitioned to the Book of Mormon and living-day prophets. Super, super good activity, and Sister Baldwin found a man we will be meeting tomorrow, whom we are really excited about. (side note, I've gotten the other missionaries in our district to start saying "whom," but they think it's funny)
Friday morning, after Sis. Baldwin's legal work and another super good finding activity, we had a meeting with our member Krystyna. It was SO good, and I really felt my words guided. I was just feeling so strongly about how God lover haer and always wants her to come closer to Him, and then I opened my mouth and the things that come out reflected my feelings. It felt so neat to know that what I said was exactly what God wanted her to hear.
That evening, we went to Tychy. Now here's the other really cool part about Friday. While we were planning that morning, a less-active lady in Tychy popped into my mind. We had been planning to visit on Sunday, but we decided to keep our Friday evening clear to go see her. When we called her, she said that Friday was the last day possible we could visit because she was going to Germany the next day! So if we had waited until Sunday to call her, we wouldn't have been able to meet. This meeting was also just wonderful.
Hmmmm...I seem to have run out of time, and if you've made it this far, that's impressive. Basically, being a missionary is wonderful and I love inviting people to Christ every day. Even if you're not a full-time missionary, you can invite people to come to Church, you can make friends with tchem and help tchem out. It brings a lot of fulfilment into life. Probably because these kinds of things are the things that God wants us to do. :)
Love,
