Hello everybody! This week has been fabulous! We had a second meeting with a friend from Bangladesh this week. We've been in really good contact with him, sending him materials and stuff, and he has been reading all of it. He is basically teaching himself. And during our meeting this week you could see so clearly how the Book of Mormon is softening his heart. He talks about how beautiful the book is and how he feels so good when he reads it. He has quit drinking coffee and tea. He has ordered Books of Mormon to give to his friends. In his own words "Every time, I read this. I think I am falling in love with it. The more I read, the more I believe."
What is neat is that his first contact with the Gospel was 11 years ago when missionaries taught at his school in India. He also met them in Switzerland.
And so he wants to get baptized the moment he can! The plan is June 18.
We also met a beautiful family through video. They have a lot of potential. The whole family is strong believers and they are always looking for more truth and light.
We were walking on the rynek today and a girl suddenly ran up to us and was so excited to talk to me! Apparently I had randomly friended her on Facebook and she recognized me from that! She kind of knew some of what we do. She was so sweet and kind and so we are going to start meeting with her!
On Saturday we went to a mosque. Sister Honn had messaged a woman who said she was interested in learning more about the difference between our religion and other Christian faiths, and so she invited us to meet there (her husband is Muslim). Well, we arrived there, and it turns out that this lady is also Muslim even though she is Polish, she converted 4 years ago. It turns out she was not as interested in accepting what we teach and instead was quite concerned about the welfare of our souls, so we learned a lot about Islam, which was really interesting. It will be super helpful because we are teaching quite a few people with a Muslim religious background, and now we can better understand how to help them.
It is so neat to watch the work of the Lord move forward. To be completely honest, we by far are teaching the most people I have ever taught on my mission, and it is so cool to watch this work grow during my last few weeks as a missionary. We as missionaries are truly learning how to rely on the Lord and use our creativity to share the gospel, and people's hearts are being humbled and prepared to accept. Our goal in Poland is to eventually have a stake and a temple, but we have some work to do before that. These next few verses from Doctrine and Covenants 29 to me describe perfectly the work we need to accomplish in order to achieve that goal:
30 But remember that all my judgments are not given unto men; and as the words have gone forth out of my mouth even so shall they be fulfilled, that the first shall be last, and that the last shall be first in all things whatsoever I have created by the word of my power, which is the power of my Spirit.
31 For by the power of my Spirit created I them; yea, all things both spiritual and temporal—
32 First spiritual, secondly temporal, which is the beginning of my work; and again, first temporal, and secondly spiritual, which is the last of my work.
Right now everyone is kind of being forced to halt a lot of the physical work such as school, jobs, etc., but what we can use this time for is doing a spiritual work. Drawing closer to our families, reaching out to friends, strengthening our testimonies. And this work is no less real than the physical work we are used to doing, in fact, it is more important.
I hope that makes sense.
Love you all!
